Pro svou bakalářskou práci jsem si vybral téma biblických válek ve Starém zákoně. V první části své práce se zabývám bojovými technikami ve starověkém Orientě a pojetím válek v těchto oblastech. Zabývám se otázkou, jaké zbraně se v tehdejší době používaly, jaká byla obvyklá bojová taktika, jak byla obléhána města, jak při tom obléhatelé postupovali a co bylo příčinou úspěchu nebo neúspěchu v jednotlivých bitvách. Zaměřil jsem se zejména na války popisované ve starozákonních knihách Jozue a Soudců. Pokusil jsem se nastínit vývoj izraelské armády po vzniku království, kdy za krále Davida došlo k profesionalizaci armády a porovnat změny v armádě. Snažil jsem se posoudit, zda boje skutečně proběhly tak, jak jsou v Bibli popisovány, či nějaké údaje byly přidány později. Ve své práci se zabývám i otázkou motivace bojovníků.I have chosen the topic of Biblical wars in the Old Testament. In the first part of my work I have described the fighting techniques of the ancient Orient and the way of understanding the wars in the region. I look at the issue of which weapons were used, the usual fighting techniques, how the towns were besieged, how the besiegers proceeded and the roots of success or failure in the battles. I have focused especially on the wars described in the Old Testament books Joshua and Judges. I have tried to outline the progress of the Israeli army after the kingdom was founded in the time of King David and to compare the changes in the army. I have tried to review the question if the fighting really took place in the way described in the Bible or if some information was added later. I also deal with the question of the motivation of the fighters.
