Tato diplomová práce stručně popisuje historii vývoje kartografie od počátku do 17. století. Podrobněji se zaměřuje na nizozemskou a belgickou kartografii a její vliv na světovou kartografii - nové metody, zobrazení, nové techniky aj. Přibližuje život několika významných kartografů a jejich přínos kartografii. Popisuje několik navigačních přístrojů, které jsou důležité pro určení polohy a které pomáhaly při tvorbě map. V poslední části se zabývá českými kartografy, např. Jan Amos Komenský, jejichž mapy používali zahraniční kartografové ve svých atlasech.This master's thesis briefly describes the history of cartography since the beginning of 17th century. I focus on Dutch and Belgian cartography and their influence on world cartography - new methods, graphical representation, new techniques etc. I mention important facts about lives of a couple most significant cartographers and their contributions. I describe some navigational devices, which are important for determining position and therefore creation of maps. In the last section, I deal with Czech cartographers eg. Jan Amos Komensky, whose maps were used by foreign cartographers in their atlases.
