Táto práca sa zaoberá prekladom XXI. knihy Historia Naturalis napísanej známym antickým autorom Plíniom Starším. V jednotlivých kapitolách sa nachádzajú informácie o živote a diele tohto autora, spolu s podrobnejším pohľadom na jeho encyklopedické dielo Historia Naturalis. Práca popisuje obsah jednotlivých kníh, zdroje Plíniovho poznania a vývoj tohto diela v nasledujúcich storočiach. Prekladová časť je zameraná na kapitoly 73 až 109 XXI. knihy. Nasleduje komentár k prekladom a stručný pohľad do minulosti fytoterapie a na súčasné poznatky o Plíniovych bylinkách.ANNOTATION This thesis deals with the translation of the Book XXI of Historia Naturalis written by well-known ancient author Pliny the Elder. The chapters contain information about the life and work of this author, together with a more detailed look at his encyclopedic work Naturalis Historia. This thesis describes the content of individual books, resources of Pliny´s knowledge and development of this work in the following centuries. The translation part focuses on the chapters 73-109 of the Book XXI and the following part deals with comments on translation and a brief look into the past of phytotherapy and current knowledge about Pliny´s herbs
