Plod postmoderny: Humor v díle Kurta Vonneguta a Josepha Hellera [rukopis] / Magdaléna Hanáčková. -- 2011. -- 87 s. -- Ved. práce Michal Peprník. -- Oponent Libor Práger. -- Abstract: Anotace Ve své práci se zabývám charakteristikou a významem humoru jako literárního nástroje a zároveň vyjádření postoje ke skutečnosti ve dvou románech počátku sedmdesátých let dvacátého století Snídaně šampiónů Kurta Vonneguta a Něco se stalo Josepha Hellera. Přestože humor vždy byl součástí mezilidské interakce, za významný formativní vliv ve Vonnegutově a Hellerově díle považuji atmosféru doby postmoderní, kterou charakterizují nejen fenomény pozitivní jako tolerance plurality diskurzů nebo vzpoura proti jednotnému výkladu skutečnosti, ale i negativní jako hyperrealita, desenzibilizace, konzumerizmus, hrozba globálních katastrof a roztříštěné vnímání skutečnosti i sama sebe. Na základě vybraných citátů a ukázek se pokouším vystihnout nejdůležitější témata, ke kterým se autoři ve svém díle vyjadřují. Humor, nedílná součást jejich komentáře, zasahuje všechny sféry lidské existence. Autoři se věnují problémům globálním přes problémy lidské interakce až po krizi identity a ztráty smyslu života. Rozpor mezi humornou formou a závažností témat jím uchopených vypovídá o bisociativní povaze humoru. Pozornost je věnována nejčastěji využívaným formám humoru, mezi něž patří humor založený na paradoxech, absurditě nebo zesměšnění často ve funkci satirického komentáře k soudobé americké společnosti, černý humor napadající tabu a zažité stereotypy a šibeniční humor všímající si nejsubtilnějších pohnutek jedince a jeho schopnosti vyrovnat se s realitou. Díky tomuto širokému spektru uplatnění splňuje jejich humor charakteristiku a funkce podle teorie superiority, teorie inkongruence i teorie relaxace. V neposlední řadě má tato práce prostřednictvím těchto dvou románů podat obraz života a prožívání jedince ve Spojených státech amerických v na první pohled spokojené době a ukázat jeden z nástrojů, jak se vyrovnat s tíživou situací.. -- Abstract: Annotation In my diploma thesis I try to capture the characteristics and function of humor as a literary device and as an expression of attitude towards reality in the novels of the beginning of the seventies of the twentieth century Breakfast of champions by Kurt Vonnegut and Something happened by Joseph Heller. Although humor has always been a part of interpersonal interactions, I consider the atmosphere of postmodern era to be an important formative influence on Vonnegut?s and Heller?s work of art. The era can be characterized not only by positive phenomena such as the tolerance of discourse plurality and the revolt against one unifying interpretation of reality but also by rather negative ones such as hyperreality, desensitivization, consumerism, threat of global catastrophes and fragmented perception of reality and one?s self. On the basis of selected quotations and extracts I focus on the most important issues that the authors deal with. Humor as an inseparable constituent of their expression covers all spheres of human life extending from the global problems to human interactions, identity crisis and the loss of purpose of life. The incongruity between the humorous form and the seriousness of issues demonstrates the bissociative nature of humor. An attention is paid to the most frequently employed forms of humor among which may be ranked humor based on paradoxes, absurdity or ridicule often in the function of social satire, black humor attacking taboos and fossilized stereotypes and gallows humor observing the innermost processes of an individual and his capacity to handle the burdensome reality. Due to the extensive use of humor in Vonnegut?s and Heller?s novels, it fulfills the functions and characteristics of the superiority theory, the relief theory as well as of the incongruity theory. Finally, the thesis presents through the two novels the depiction of life and experience of an individual in the United States of America in the era that might seem satisfying at first glance and shows one of the ways how to handle bitter conditions.
