Odpověď na výzkumnou otázku zda existuje vztah mezi implantací ICD a životní spokojeností pacientů s implantovaným ICD jsme zkoumali na souboru 18 mužů (n=18), průměrného věku 63,5 let (min. 43, max. 86) prostřednictvím Fahrenbergova Dotazníku životní spokojenosti, který respondenti vyplnili před primární implantací ICD (1. měření) a v době minimálně půl roku po primoimplantaci (2. měření). Wilcoxonův párový test pro dvojice proměnných prokázal statistickou významnost (na hladině p $<$ 0,05000) ve škále práce a zaměstnání a ve škále finance. Koeficient efekt size "Cohenovo d" prokázal malou významnost ve škálách práce a zaměstnání, finance, manželství a přátelství, bydlení. Porovnávání bodového hodnocení spokojenosti v jednotlivých oblastech ukázalo pokles spokojenosti ve všech oblastech s výjimkou škály vztah k vlastním dětem. Adekvátní komunikace mezi lékařem a pacientem s implantovaným kardioverter-defibrilátorem v pooperační a další době o subjektivních pocitech spokojenosti nemocného, včetně diskrétní oblasti sexuální aktivity, může být klíčem ke zlepšení celkové životní spokojenosti pacienta s implantovaným přístrojem. Výsledky práce mohou sloužit k budoucím výzkumům a k vytvoření komunikačních a edukačních strategií.. -- Abstract: The thesis examines the life satisfaction of patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between implantation of ICD and life satisfaction of the patients with ICD. The study sample consisted of 18 men patients, the mean age was 63.5 (range 43 - 86 years). They answered the questions in the Fahrenberg?s Life satisfaction Questionnaire right before the first implantation of ICD (1st measurement) then at least half a year after the first implantation (2nd measurement). Wilcoxon´s pair of variables test demonstrated statistical significance (at the p $<$ 0.05000) in the range of labor and employment and in the range of finance. The coefficient of effect size the "Cohen´s d" demonstrated little significance in the scales work and employment, finance, marriage and friendship, housing. Comparing satisfaction score in each range showed the drop in satisfaction of all areas of life satisfaction, with the exception of the range relationship to their own children. Adequate communication between patient with ICD and his doctor about subjective patients´s feelings, including such a discrete topic as the sexual activity is, might be the key to improve the overall life satisfaction of patients with implantable ICD. The results of the thesis could be useful in future practice as for additional research as to develop communication and educational strategies.
