Práce mapuje historické předpoklady vzniku tohoto institutu, pokračuje popisem jeho rozvoje po přijetí Maastrichtské a Lisabonské smlouvy, zabývá se zhodnocením aktuálního stavu i perspektiv budoucího vývoje evropského občanství. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována právům občanů Evropské unie, jejich zakotvení v evropském právu (včetně výběru relevantní judikatury Evropského soudního dvora) a legislativní úpravě realizace těchto práv v českém právním řádu. Součástí práce je i komparace konceptu evropského občanství s pojmem státního občanství a analýza vztahu Charty základních práv EU a institutu Evropského občanství.. -- Abstract: The purpose of this diploma thesis is to analyze the institute of the European citizenship. The thesis involves description of historical development of the institute (including the changes brought by Maastricht and Lisbon Treaty), summary of actual situation and possible perpectives of its future development. Special attention is focused on the rights of European citizens, especially its codification in the law of the European Union (including case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union) and in the Czech law. The thesis contents also comparison of state and European citizenship and analyze of relation(ship) between the Charter of the fundamental rights of the European Union and the institute of the European citizenship.
