Hexaploidní rostliny vykazovaly signifikantně vyšší zjevný kvantový výtěžek fotosyntézy a tendenci k vyšší maximální rychlosti fotosyntézy a vyššímu indexu konvexity ve srovnání s nižšími ploidiemi. Tetraploidní rostliny vykazovaly tendenci k vyššímu kompenzačnímu bodu. Hustota stomat se mezi ploidiemi nelišila. Průměrná hodnota specifické listové plochy klesala s rostoucí ploidií. Výsledky jsou diskutovány v kontextu ekologie a evoluce studovaného taxonu. The influence of polyploidy on selected anatomical and photosynthetic parameters of Allium oleraceum L. was studied. There are three cytotypes (2n = 4x = 32, 5x = 40, 6x = 48) in the Czech republic which have different ecological demands and distribution. Different ecogeographic distibution of cytotypes can bear on different photosynthetic capacity and demands on external factors that affect photosynthesis. Selected parameters of photosynthesis were measured on open gas-exchange system. Measured parameters were were less variable in hexaploid plants than in penta- and tetraploids. Photosynthetic rate, rate of transpiration and stomatal conductance at saturation per unit leaf area weren?t significantly different between ploidy. Intercelular concentration of CO2 at saturation on leaf area basis was significantly higher in tetraploids. Rate of dark respiration per unit leaf area was significantly lower in pentaploids than in other ploidy levels. Hexaploid plants showed tendency to higher apparent quantum yield and higher maximal photosynthetic rate when compared with lower ploidy levels. Tetraploids tended to have higher compensation point than other ploidy levels. Stomatal density wasn?t significantly different between ploidy levels. Specific leaf area decreased with increasing ploidy level. The results are discussed in context of ecology and evolution of this polyploid taxon.
