My diploma thesis is a probe into the language of the young in Italian chat. My work is examining how Italian is adopting to this type of communication from the morph syntactic, phonological and finally lexicological point of view. This virtual communication is very similar to informal spoken language, where are used plenty of vulgarisms, dialects and other phenomena typical for spoken language. Moreover for accelerating the communication there are used many abbreviations which are already well-known, abundant and efficient.
