In my diploma thesis I focus on the ambiguency of Socrates whom I treat as a fictional character. The corpus of Plato´s works contains two dialogues, Apology and Symposium, both of which provide us ?qaitiological stories?? about Socrates´ ambiguency, i. e. stories which explain the oddities in Socrates´ nature and behaviour. Both of the stories are embedded in multiple narrative frames. By analyzing these frames we find out there is a friction between two kinds of discourses in the dialogues: "monological" and "dialogical??. The former one is based on non-critical repeating and acceptance of the statements and opinions, whereas the latter one tends to the neverending and selfreflective inquiry. The monological discourse not only leads to the mental indolence and complacency, but (based on the ambitious disposiotion) could eventually corrupt the human character and destroy the interpersonal solidarity. As a fighter against this kind of moral breakdown, Socrates tries to wake his fellow-citizens from the ?qmonological autism??, using all the means of dialogical discourse such as irony, parody, role-reversal or elenchos.
