This thesis deals with the prevention and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases and the potential effects of the Nordic Walking method on them. In a cohort of 20 subjects with ischaemic heart disease we measured the differences in cardiovascular values between those who rehabilitated according to the routine method and those who, in addition to the routine method, practised Nordic Walking. The outcome in the subjects practising Nordic Walking method was in some measured values slightly better. For example, the subjects underwent the second test in a markedly shorter time than the first one. Moreover, the rate of perceived exertion (RPE) was subjectivelly perceived by the subjects as lower, which proves the higher adaptation of the organism to the physical strain.
