Toto období je vybráno z důvodu dynamiky, s jakou se čínsko-sovětské vztahy měnily. Jedná se o období od vzniku spolupráce mezi Čínou a Sovětským svazem po pohraniční střety mezi těmito státy. Úvodní část práce seznamuje čtenáře s teoretickými a filozofickými základy jak klasického realismu, tak neorealismu, přičemž se specificky zaměřuje na jednoho z nejvýznamnějších myslitelů disciplíny mezinárodních vztahů 20. století Kennetha Waltze a jeho teorii rovnováhy moci. Následně nás práce uvede do problematiky a vývoje čínsko-sovětských vztahů. Poslední kapitola bude ověřovat hypotézy, které jsou vytvořeny na základě teorie klasického realismu a neorealismu, na případu čínsko-sovětských vztahů. V závěru bude práce odpovídat na výzkumnou otázku a zhodnotí získané poznatky.. -- Abstract: This thesis aims to investigate whether realism can provide some explanations for the development of Sino-Soviet relations between 1949-1969. This period is chosen because of the dynamics with which Sino-Soviet relations changed. It starts from the emergence of cooperation between China and the Soviet Union and end with the border clashes between these states. The introductory section of the thesis introduces the reader to the theoretical and philosophical foundations of both classical realism and neorealism, focusing specifically on one of the most important thinkers in the discipline of international relations in the 20th century, Kenneth Waltz, and his balance of power theory. The thesis then introduces us to the issues and development of Sino-Soviet relations. The last chapter will test the hypotheses, which are formed on the basis of the theory of classical realism and neorealism, on the case of Sino-Soviet relations. Finally, the thesis will answer the research question and evaluate the findings.
