Diplomová práca sa zaoberá epidemiológiou HIV/AIDS z globálneho pohľadu, popisuje jej historický pôvod a vývin, dokumentuje aktuálny stav, vysvetľuje možnosti prenosu, liečby a prevencie ochorenia. Práca sa v rámci prevencie zameriava na preexpozičnú profylaxiu PrEP. Kompletizuje informácie o spôsoboch a indikáciách k jeho užívaniu, vymedzuje rizikové skupiny populácie, ktoré môžu z tejto profylaxie najviac profitovať a vysvetľuje jeho možné nežiaduce účinky a riziká. Cieľom diplomovej práce je kvantifikovať dopad PrEP a jeho modalít na epidemiologickú situáciu krajín v ktorých je dostupný. Pomocou potvrdzovania/ zamietania deviatich stanovených hypotéz demonštruje efektivitu PrEP. K naplneniu cieľa práce bola použitá obsahová analýza štatistických údajov voľne prístupných z webových stránok národných a medzinárodných inštitúcií. Výsledky práce poukazujú na dôležitosť povedomia o tomto spôsobe profylaxie a dávajú čitateľovi globálny prehľad o dopadoch preexpozičnej profylaxie na epidemiologickú situáciu dotknutých krajín, vrátane vplyvu generických liečiv a doporučených postupov (guidelines).The diploma thesis deals with the epidemiology of HIV / AIDS from a global perspective, describes its historical origin and development, documents the current state, explains the possibilities of transmission, treatment and prevention of the disease. In terms of prevention, the diploma thesis focuses on the pre exposure prophylaxis PrEP. It completes the information on methods and indications for its use, defines the risk groups of the population that can benefit the most from this prophylaxis and explains its possible side effects and risks. The aim of the diploma thesis is to quantify the impact of PrEP and its modalities on the epidemiological situation of the countries in which it is available. It demonstrates the effectiveness of PrEP by confirming / rejecting nine established hypotheses. To fulfill the aim of the work, the content analysis of statistical data freely accessible from the websites of national and international institutions was used. The results point to the importance of awareness of this method of prophylaxis and give the reader a global overview of the effects of preexposure prophylaxis on the epidemiological situation of the countries concerned, including the impact of generic drugs and guidelines.
