This thesis provides a theoretical basis that concerns e-learning education of students suffering from hearing impairment. The empirical part is dedicated to the complete characteristics of selected e-learning platforms which can be found in the Czech republic and at the same time, it outlines the experience of students and teachers with these platforms. Diploma thesis is divided into five chapters - whilst the first four chapters are being theoretical, the fifth chapter is tied to research. The first chapter deals with the hearing impairment in general, it describes the term "hearing impairment" and includes its classification. It also points out the importance of hearing for humans and presents the etiology of hearing impairments and the consequences such an impairment may possess. The second chapter focuses on the education of students suffering from hearing impairment and introduces several terms - oral, bilingual method and total communication. The third chapter is about the employment of e-learning platforms in education - it describes media pedagogy, the tutor role of a teacher in e-learning and presents current trends and matters related to the employment of e-learning platforms in schools. The last chapter includes the strategy of research survey and interprets the results of qualitative research survey focused on mapping the state of use of e-learning in primary school, particularly for pupils with hearing impairment at the second stage.
