Disertační práce se zabývá analýzou a charakteristikou zkratek v současné češtině a němčině, popisem zkratek jako specifických jazykových znaků na základě rozboru výskytu zkratek v německém a českém tisku. Přihlíží se k aktuálním jazykovým tendencím a k novým typům zkratek v jazyce. Analyzována je tvorba starších i novějších abreviatur, přičemž podstatná část popisu je věnována abreviaturám graficko-fónickým, vázaným a iniciálovým, které tvoří centrální část systému abreviačních forem.The dissertation deals with the abbreviation in contemporary Czech and German, its dynamics in the word-formation process and with the description of abbreviations as specific language signs. Contemporary language tendencies and new formations in the field of abbreviation are taken into account. The analysis is focused on the linguistics aspects of the older and newer abbreviations, while a substantial part of the description - on the graphical and phonical, composed abbreviations and initial abbreviations, which create a central part of the system of abbreviation formations in contemporary Czech and German language systems.
