Tato práce se zabývá subkulturou travesti, díky které poukazuji na gender jako na sociální konstrukt, který je utvrzován jeho pravidelnou performací. Tato skutečnost vychází z teoretické práce Judith Butler, která tímto objevem poukázala na gender jako na konstrukci, a nikoliv tedy něco, co je člověku přirozeně dáno. Travesti umělci tuto teorii dokazují ve svých představeních, kdy během dvouhodinové show divák sleduje ženský gender předváděný jedinci s mužským pohlavím. Konstrukce ženského genderu je tvořena na základě snahy o nejpřesnější podobu známých ženských osobností, proto jsem se ve své práci zaměřila na to, jak dochází k výběru žen, které jsou představovány. Metodologická část této práce se zabývá pohnutkami, které vedou k výběru této profese. Pomocí důkladné analýzy show a také vedení rozhovorů s travesti umělci se zaměřuji také na sdělení, které se ve vystoupeních objevuje. Z analýzy rozhovorů, které jsem vedla s představiteli této subkultury je patrné, že touha stát se součástí showbusinessu a sklon k exhibicionismu jsou důležitými prvky pro toto rozhodnutí. Důležitým prvkem je však také maska ženy, kterou na sebe umělci vytváří. Zpráva, která se ukrývá v travesti show je zprávou radosti, která může sloužit dvojímu záměru. Travesti show slouží jako společenský ventil pro divačky, což je jeden z důvodů proč se divačky stále vrací. Pro travesti umělce je však důležité tuto radost pro své diváky zprostředkovat díky vztahu, které si s nimi postupně vytváří. Travesti však v sobě skrývá také sílu odvržení genderových stereotypů, kdy jejich představitelé konstrukcí ženského genderu podle slavné zpěvačky oslabují jeho moc.This paper is dealing with the subculture of travesti. Through this phenomenon, I point out gender as a social construct that is established by everyday performance. This finding is based on the theoretical work of Judith Butler. Butler present gender as a construct, therefore not as something natural for people. Travesti performers prove this theory in their shows, which contain two-hour performances where the female gender is performed by a male. Construction of the female gender is built on the effort to look the most accurate as famous women. For that reason, I have directed my attention to the selection processes of chosen performance and therefore the chosen famous women. The methodological part of this paper is concerned with motives, that lead to choosing this sort of job. With the help of my analysis of the shows and interviews that I took with travesti performers. I also concentrate on the message that might apparat in the shows. Through analysis of the interviews that I conduct with the representatives of this subculture, it is clear that the desire to be part of showbusiness and the exhibitionist tendencies are important elements in this decision. But an important key role is also the mask of the woman the artists create for themselves. The message that lurks in the show's travesty is a message of joy that can serve double purpose. The travesti show serves as a collective release for viewers, which is one of the reasons why viewers are still coming back. However, it is important for a travesti artist to convey joy for his viewers through the relationship he gradually creates with them. But travesti also harbours the power of dismissing gender stereotypes, when travesti artist creates female gender and with that they are weakening its power.
