Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá porovnáním personifikace smrti v díle Jana ze Žatce Oráč z Čech se Sedmou pečetí od Ingmara Bergmana. Porovnání proběhlo na základě analýzy vyobrazené smrti s ohledem na život autorů a jejich historický kontext. Cílem bylo ilustrovat změny, jaké se projevily v uměleckém ztvárnění smrti od středověku po současnost, a také v konečném poselství smrti jakožto impulsu k hledaní smyslu života. V závěru jsou shrnuty rozdíly, které se projevují odklonem od filosoficko-teologického smýšlení k existenciálnímu, a také navrženy další oblasti pro výzkum, které by zodpověděly otázky týkající se pražských židů jakožto původních adresátů Oráče.This bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of the personification of death between The Ploughman from Bohemia from Johannes von Tepl and Bergman's The Seventh Seal. The comparison was carried out through an analysis of the represented image of death taking to account the life of the authors and their historical context. The aim was to illustrate changes in the artistic attitude toward death from the Middle Ages to the present, and differences in the final message of death concerning the search for the meaning of life. The differences regarding the change of thought between the philosophical-theological worldview and existentialism are summarized in the conclusion including suggestions for further research in the area of the original audience of The Ploughman that might answer possible connections to the Jews in Prague.
