Cílem této práce je vymezení ontologického statusu hmoty a materiální substance v Leibnizově idealismu. Leibniz je všeobecně považován za idealistu par excellence. Tato práce se však pokusí toto stanovisko vyvrátit. Bude řečeno, že východiska Leibnizovy ontologie tvoří jeho filozofie přírodní. Aby mohl být stanoven ontologický status hmoty, bude detailně prozkoumána Leibnizova definice pojmu substance. Dále budou vymezena Leibnizova kritéria substance, stejně jako předpoklady, z nichž Leibnizova ontologie vychází. Práce se dále zabývá možnostmi analýzy Leibnizových překvapivě četných pojetí hmoty. Nakonec bude zhodnoceno, zda je Leibnizovo pojetí hmoty konzistentní s jeho kanonickým idealismem.The aim of this thesis is to examine the ontological status of matter and material substance in Leibniz's idealism. Leibniz is generally regarded as an Idealist par excellence. This thesis, however, will challenge this view. It will be said that the basis of Leibniz's ontology is in fact formed by his natural philosophy. To be able to examine the ontological status of matter, Leibniz's definition of substance will be analyzed. Moreover, this thesis will examine Leibniz's various criteria of substance, as well as the assumptions that give rise to his ontology. The thesis is further concerned with possible analyses of Leibniz's surprisingly numerous theories of matter. Finally, it will be evaluated whether Leibniz's conception of matter is consistent with his canonical idealism.
