This Master´s Thesis is concerned with comparison of effects of static stretching and contract-relax form of PNF stretching onto a postural stability. The main rated values of the paper are efficiency of reactions on unexpected stimulus, ability to freely control a movement of the centre of gravity and motion control during functional movements in space. The study itself involved 40 volunteers who were divided in two groups (each of 20 persons) on a random basis - the first group for PNF stretching and second group for static stretching. Parameters of individual balance reactions were measured prior and after the stretching by testing on computerized dynamic posturography of NeuroCom? company and the sequence of tests (Motor Control Test, Adaptation Test, Limits of Stability, Forward Lunge) was chosen randomly. The first diagonal extension pattern on the lower limb was chosen for the PNF stretching, technique of contract-relax-contract of antagonists. The same position, which was passively held by therapist, was reached for static stretching as for the PNF stretching. The result of the paper was statistically significant improvement of the selected parameters of postural stability for both observed groups. However, statistically important differences between both groups were observed at the same time as regards certain parameters. In general, an unambiguous difference between both groups was not confirmed. However, results of the paper were also compared with the published studies.
