(63 000 znaků) : il. + CD ROM. -- Ved. práce Andrea Hoffmannová. -- Abstract: Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá literárním žánrem otrokářských povídek, konkrétně pak analýzou dvojice publikací napsaných osvobozenými afroamerickými otroky během devatenáctého století. Pro účel analýzy byly zvoleny autobiografie Fredericka Douglasse a Harriett Ann Jacobsové. Hlavním cílem práce je zejména srovnání rozdílného vnímání otroctví muži a ženami, jejich různé role v systému otroctví a přístup k celé problematice. Úvodní kapitoly práce se věnují obecné charakteristice otázky otroctví ve Spojených státech amerických, navazující části pak postupně rozpracovávají obraz mužských a ženských otroků, jejich různé role ve společnosti, význam rodiny, jejich pracovní a celkové životní podmínky.. -- Abstract: This thesis deals with the literary genre of slave narratives, specifically then with the analysis of two narratives written in the nineteenth century by fugitive Afro-American slaves. For the purpose of the analysis, the autobiographies written by Frederick Douglass and Harriett Ann Jacobs have been selected. The main aim of this thesis is to describe the different perception of slavery between male and female slaves, their roles in the whole system of slavery and their approach to the problem. The first chapters of the thesis are dedicated to a general characterization of slavery in the United States, its following parts define progressively the differences between the male and the female perception of slavery, the different roles of slaves in American society at that time, the importance of families, their general work and life conditions.
