Tato práce se zabývá románem M sto & M sto sou asného britského autora China Miéville v kontextu žánru New Weird. Hlavním cílem této práce je p edstavit a analyzovat tento žánr ve vztahu k románu M sto & M sto ale také v širším literárním kontextu weird literatury. Práce se také v nuje odchylkám od daného žánru, ke kterým dochází v románu M sto & M sto a ukazuje tak zp soby jakým román p ináší inovaci do tohoto žánru, proto je p edkládaná analýza také hledáním možných změ n, ke kterým došlo v románu M sto & M sto.In my thesis I present the novel The City & The City by contemporary British author China Miéville in relation to the genre New Weird. It is the main aim of this thesis to introduce and analyse this genre in connection with the novel The City & The City but also in broader literary context of weird fiction. The thesis also shows the departure of the novel from some of the New Weird characteristics and the ways it brings innovation to the genre, therefore the analysis is also a search for the possible changes that emerged in The City & The City.
