(71 160 znaků) + CD ROM. -- Ved. práce Radmila Pavlíčková. -- Abstract: Bakalářská diplomová práce je zaměřena na dojmy a reflexe anglické šlechtičny lady Mary Wortley Montagu z cest po střední Evropě. Na cestě do Constantinopole se svým manželem, britským velvyslancem Edwardem Wortleym Montagu, strávila lady Mary přibližně dva roky. Mezi lety 1716 až 1718 přebývala také ve městech habsburské monarchie, kde si pravidelně zapisovala své dojmy do deníku, z něhož později vzniklo mnoho dopisů adresovaných jejím příbuzným a přátelům. Díky svému urozenému původu a vysokému společenskému postavení měla možnost navštívit panovnické dvory v těchto městech. Ve svých dopisech popisuje podobu měst, uvádí své dojmy ze setkání se šlechtici a popisuje jejich zvyky i tradice. Všímá si i drobných detailů a ve svých soukromých dopisech je přátelům popisuje bez jakékoliv formálnosti tak, jak jí přišly na mysl. Jakých věcí si lady Mary Montagu všímá a proč? Jak vnímá odlišnou kulturu a tradice v habsburské říši? Cílem této práce je podat komplexní obraz dojmů této anglické šlechtičny z cest po městech Svaté říše římské národa německého.. -- Abstract: This bachelor thesis analyzes the correspondence of Lady Mary Wortley Montagu (1689-1762) who accompanied her husband Edward Wortley Montagu, British Ambassador, to the Ottoman Empire between 1716-1718. The thesis is focused on the Lady Mary's correspondence from the cities of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation Cologne, Nuremberg, Regensburg, Wien, Prague, Dresden, Leipzig, Braunschweig, Hanover and Blankenburg. The first chapter contains Lady Mary's biographical information. The second chapter "Women and the Grand Tour in Modern Times" shows the origins of women's travelling and its progress through time. The next parts are devoted to Lady Mary's reflection of the cities she visited several courts in the Empire (in Wien, Dresden and Hanover), met with local nobility, including the Emperor Charles VI. and his wife Elisabeth Christine. As an English Lady, she describes their architecture, differences in manners and fashion or social relationships of local nobility. Although there are many distinctions, she is very tolerant to foreign culture: "The gallantry and good-breeding are as different, in different climates, as morality and religion. Who have the rightest notions of both, we shall never know till the day of judgment." Although she was very loyal to the habbits of local people, she criticizes the Roman Catholic traditions. As the follower of the Church of England, she denounces the cult of saints which is very expanded here.
