Cieľom tejto práce je nielen priblížiť historické a kultúrne pozadie vzniku názvu jednotlivých mestských častí v 23 obvodoch mesta Tokio, ale i porovnanie spôsobov ich tvorenia, na základe ktorého sa pokúsi nájsť spoločné črty pomenovania miest v jednotlivých historických obdobiach hlavného mesta Japonska. Práca je rozdelená do dvoch častí. Prvá časť sa zaoberá teoretickými znalosťami o toponomastike v japonskom kontexte a úvodom do histórie hlavného mesta Japonska, čiže Eda/Tokia. Následne práca popisuje pôvod názvu hlavného mesta Japonska. Druhá časť práce sa zaoberá jednotlivými názvami miest, ktoré sú usporiadané podľa jednotlivých obvodov (čiže geograficky) so zameraním na historické pozadie vzniku názvu a jeho etymológiu. Následne sú názvy miest usporiadané v tabuľke periodicky a získané poznatky sú na záver vyhodnotené s dôrazom na spoločné črty v pomenovaní názvov miest v jednotlivých historických obdobiach.This thesis researches not just historical and cultural background of the origin of names in town districts in 23 wards of the city of Tokio, but also compares the way of making those based on which it tries to find common characteristics of naming of places during different historical periods. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first one deals with theoretical knowledge about toponomastics in the Japanese context and an introduction to the history of the capitol of Japan, i.e. Edo/Tokio. Then, the work describes the origin of the name of the capitol of Japan. The second part discusses different names of places (town districts and wards), which are arranged according to 23 wards they belong to (thus, geographically) with the focus on the historical background of the origin of the names and their etymology. At the end, the names of places are arranged in a periodic table and the data are evaluated with emphasis on similarities in naming of places in different historical periods.
