Pro rozpoznání a identifikaci tohoto jevu využívá metodiky GIUS. Metodika se skládá z 12 indexů. Jsou to Density, Leapfrog, Segregated Land Use, Regional Planning Inconsistency, Highway Strip, Road Infrastructure Inefficiency, Transit Inaccessibility, Community Node Inaccessibility, Consumption of Important Land Resources, Sensitive Open Space Encroachment, Impervious Surface Coverage and Growth Trajectory), podle jejichž výpočtů lze urban sprawl bezpečně určit. V rámci testovaného území bylo vybráno 13 městských částí Olomouce a 10 obcí ORP Olomouc. Metodika byla vytvořena profesorem Johnem Hassem a aplikována na město Hunterdon Country ve státě New Jersey. Metodika je poprvé aplikována na město v ČR, a to Olomouc.. -- Abstract: This bachelor thesis deals with urban sprawl in the area of ORP Olomouc. The GIUS (Geospatial Indices of Urban Sprawl) methodology is used for recognition and identification of this phenomenon. The methodology consists of 12 indices. There belong Density, Leapfrog, Segregated Land Use, Regional Planning Inconsistency, Highway Strip, Road Infrastructure Inefficiency, Transit Inaccessibility, Community Node Inaccessibility, Consumption of Important Land Resources, Sensitive Open Space Encroachment, Impervious Surface Coverage and Growth Trajectory. Thanks to these indices and their calculations it is possible to identify the urban sprawl. Thirteen city parts of Olomouc and ten municipalities of ORP Olomouc have been chosen and investigated. The methodology was founded by professor John Hass and it was used for the city of Hunderton Country in the state of New Jersey. For the first time, this methodology was applied in the city of the Czech Republic, concretely Olomouc.
