The aim of research in this thesis is the function and significance of nudity in dance performing concepts, in particular historical mapping of its use that hasn´t been researched and processed in the Czech theatrical context before. This historical discourse is based on the extensive publication by a German expert Ulrike Traub entitled Theater der Nacktheit, the contents of which is the essential source for the submitted thesis. Special emphasis is put on different perceptions of thematic nudity and on their comparison in specifically varying positions of performing arts. For this purpose, I refer to the work Nudity and textuality in postmodern performance by the German author Karl Toepfer . Following the historical outline and subsequent theoretical definition of the function of nudity, I apply partial results to the analysis of performances of the Dutch artistic group United-C to try to defend the goal of this work, which is to provide a comprehensive introduction into the topic of nudity in performance for the Czech recipient.
