Předložená disertační práce se zabývá životem a dílem současného bavorského prozaika, básníka, dramatika a žurnalisty Bernharda Setzweina. Pozornost je věnována především jeho literární orientaci na české prostředí, která se různým způsobem odráží v textech tohoto autora. Díky rozboru Setzweinovy tvorby bylo možno charakterizovat jeho způsob psaní a literární postupy, které jsou pro něho typické. Jedná se zejména o inspiraci osobami a jejich osudy, dále konkrétními místy, reálnými příběhy a také rolí intertextuality v jeho textech. Setzwein vytváří určitý druh intelektuální hry, díky které chce postihnout smysl možného, snaží se ztvárnit různé perspektivy. Na druhé straně jsou jeho díla jakýmsi literárním obrazem jak doby současné, tak i některých dějinných etap. K rysům tvorby tohoto bavorského spisovatele patří i kombinace realismu s fantaskními prvky všeho druhu. Bernhard Setzwein je rodákem z Mnichova. Před více jak dvaceti lety se přestěhoval do bezprostřední blízkosti česko-bavorské hranice, a to znamenalo i postupnou, ale trvalou změnu v obsahu jeho děl. Téma Mnichova neopouští úplně. Do popředí se však dostávají náměty spojené se střední Evropou, především však s Českou republikou. Setzwein se seznamuje s novým kulturním prostorem, což se odráží v textech různých žánrů. Tento bavorský autor je velkým znalcem české literatury, kterou spojuje s melancholií, určitou časovou neurčitostí, ale i pivem. Je obdivovatelem díla Bohumila Hrabala, Vladislava Vančury, Oty Pavla a mnohých dalších českých spisovatelů. Pomyslným vrcholem s ohledem na český kontext v díle Setzweina představuje jeho románová trilogie ,,Trilogie aus der Mitte der Böhmischen Masse". Tato disertace se věnuje prvním dvou dílům, tedy románům Die grüne Jungfer a Ein seltsames Land. Jejich analýza se nejdříve orientuje na systém vyprávění, ztvárnění času a prostoru a charakteristiku postav. Dále jsou zde prezentovány Setzweinovy literární postupy a jejich konkrétní uplatnění v těchto dílech.The thesis deals with life and work of a contemporary Bavarian prose-writer, poet, playwright and journalist Bernhard Setzwein. The work is particularly focused on author's preference of setting his books in the Czech Republic. This is reflected in various ways in many of his texts. Thanks to analysis of Setzwein's writings it was possible to characterize his way of writing and writing schemes that he commonly uses. These were namely lives of people which inspired him, specific places, real stories and a role of intertextuality in his texts. Setzwein makes a sort of intellectual game which enables him to realize interpretation of what is possible, he tries to formulate diverse perspectives. On the other hand, his books are a literary portrait of both today and several historical periods. Combination of realism and fantastic elements of all types distinguishes him form other authors. Bernhard Setzwein was born in Munich. More than twenty years ago he moved close to the Czech-Bavarian border and it meant a gradual change in the content of his work. He does not entirely abandon the topic of Munich. Though he prefers motives connected to Central Europe, the Czech Republic above all. Setzwein discovers new cultural environment which appears in texts written in different genres. This Bavarian author is an expert on the Czech literature which, according to him, embodies melancholy, certain vagueness in the conception of time and of course, beer. He admires the masterpiece of Bohumi Hrabal, Vladislav Vančura, Ota Pavel and other Czech writers. Setzwein's triology ,,Trilogie aus der Mitte der Böhmischen Masse" represents the acme of achievement concerning Czech context. The thesis focuses on the first two volumes, novels Die grüne Jungfer and Ein seltsames Land. The analysis concentrates on narrative system approaches, the notion of time and place and characterization of his characters. Furthermore, it introduces Setzwein's writing schemes and the way they are used in these books.
