Any drug must reach its target site to have the desired effect, which often involves passive passage through the membrane. Therefore, it is essential to understand how the composition of the membrane affects its structural properties and interactions. In this work, the influence of membrane composition on their structural properties: membrane thickness, lipid area, order parameters and lateral diffusion was studied using coarse grained simulations. Membranes of phosphoglycerides in pure and mixed state were simulated. The influence of composition on all monitored structural parameters was shown. The trends found in this way were then compared with the values of permeability coefficients supplemented and now available in the MolMeDB database. Our results show that coarse grained simulations describe the structural characteristics of membranes qualitatively in order, but the permeability data from different sources are not simply comparable.
