The thesis is dedicated to the fusion of flamenco and jazz music. It defends the hypothesis that modern flamenco has expanded thanks to its connection with jazz. The thesis dedicates first to both music styles separately, then it dedicates to different types of fusions between flamenco and other musical styles and it evaluates their vitality and successfulness. Then, it dedicates to the analysis of selected works which had influenced significantly the evolution of flamenco: La leyenda del tiempo (Camarón de la Isla), Entre dos aguas (Paco de Lucía), Zyryab (Paco de Lucía) and Chicken dog (Gerardo Núnez and Ulf Wakenius). These analyses point to the jazz elements that currently form the standard of modern flamenco.
