Cílem práce bylo prozkoumat motivace a osobnostní charakteristiky dobrovolníků v organizaci Budějovický Majáles. Teoretická část práce popisuje dosavadní poznatky v oblasti dobrovolnictví adolescentů, motivace a prosociálního chování. The thesis's purpose was to explore motivation and personality traits of volunteers in the organisation "Budějovický Majáles". The theoretical part of the thesis presents past researches and knowledge in fields of adolescent's volunteering, motivation and prosocial behaviors. The second part focuses on practical research, in which we have defined seven research questions focusing on the ways students enter the organisation, on their motives to enter and also changes of motivations throughout the time. Research sample was created by intentional sampling and it consisted of 42 respondents from which 37 were active members and 5 were former members of the organisation. Semi-structured interview was used as the main method to explore the motivations. Further testing of the personality traits of the volunteers was done by NEO-FFI inventory. The results of the research are showing the importance of interpersonal relationship for entering and remaining in the organisation. We also came to the conclusion that the motives of the volunteers are corresponding with adolescence developmental tasks. Respondents feel positively influenced by volunteering in regard of their future life direction, they also acquired a belief that they can be active agents in changing the world around them. The personality traits of the volunteers represented on Big Five scales didn't prove to be significantly different from normal population. The results of this research should be used as a frame for practical steps for improving work with volunteers in Budějovický Majáles. Other results can be generalized and applied also for other organisations recruiting adolescent volunteers.
