This thesis dealt with the security of the Czech Republic, specifically focusing on energy security of the country. The aim was to prove following hypothesis: Replacing Russian fossil fuels supplies by increasing a proportion of both renewable and nuclear energy increases energy security of the Czech Republic. This hypothesis could be answered with the following research questions: Is it even realistic to replace Russian supplies? Is there an adequate option to circumvent these supplies and what would be an estimated timeline to do this? At first, the author has theoretically supported the thesis. The second chapter is focused on the security of the Czech Republic concerning its actors and strategies. The third chapter is a case study on energy security using the SWOT analysis to define the main strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats from the point of view of the Czech Republic. At the end of the chapter were findings that the SWOT analysis concluded. The research question was also answered at the end of the third chapter. As a result, the stated hypotheses was proved and the author found out that replacing Russian fossil fuels supplies is realistic if the renewable and unclassifiable energy sources are increased and if the European pipelines are more interconnected. The expansion policy of Russian Federation would therefore lose one of its weapons that Russia uses currently when trying to control other countries. As a result, the energy security of the Czech Republic would be increased and this would lead to higher level of military-political security.
