Diplomová práce se zabývá genezí melodramu, jeho typickými znaky. Zaměřuje se na české hudební prostředí, především na Zdeňka Fibicha a poslední část jeho trilogie scénických melodramů Smrt Hippodamie. Analyzuje jeho iscenační tradici a moderní nastudování v profesionálních divadlech během uplynulých deseti let. Zabývá se také soutěží v interpretaci koncertního melodramu.This degree thesis deals with the genesis of melodrama and its typical features. It is directed toward the world of Czech music, principally that of Zdeněk Fibich and the staging of the last part of his trilogy The Death of Hippodamia ? Smrt Hippodamie. It analyses production tradition and modern adaptations in professional theatres in the last ten years. It also deals with competition in the interpretation of concert melodrama.
