Rigorózní práce se zabýváproblematikou současné paliativní péče vČeské republice, zásadními nedostatky vuplatňování bioetických principů v praxi apotřebami nevyléčitelně nemocných a umírajících pacientů zrůzných úhlů pohledu. The aim of this rigorous thesis on the topic ?Ethical aspects of palliative care inpractise? was not only to bring the issue of palliative care closer to the wider public, but above all to highlight the alarming necessity of solving terminally illpatients care issues, and not only from the point of view of the medical system inthe Czech Republic but primarily from the moral and spiritual aspects. Thethesis wants to appeal to those who are involved, to realise that a person, despite his/her illness and powerless situation is still a person worth of respect anddignity. And regardless of the person?s condition, he/she goes about their day as usual full of love and he/she can still be a gift from above for his/her relatives and the closest ones. On the other hand, the experiencing pain and the loving care of the loved ones can be an opportunity for the ill person to realise the right meaning of life.Nowadays, biotechnology development and application of new knowledge inmedicine force people to face many ethical decisions. For these new methods, bioethical principles have been created ?criterions for assessing the moral aspect of these interventions in the human body. There are many shortcomings intheapplication of bioethical principles in a clinical practise. It is mainly about disrespecting the principal of a person?s dignity, which is the basic and initial principle. This rigorous thesis handles precise fundamental shortcomings in the application of bioethical principles in practice and the needs of terminally ill patients from different points of view. There is a paramount importance on the awareness ofthese shortcomings and needs. Jesus himself provides us the way to make amends. He is an example by whom we should be guided by so that wedonotoppose the person and her dignity. In the rigorous thesis we have tried to point more comprehensively to the needs of patients in the current palliative care system in the Czech Republic, to draw the attention to the most important rigours and to outline the direction ofassistance to these patients not only from relatives, but also from medical staff 128members and other helping professions. The Bible and various other religious documents have provided us support for an argumentation: Gaudium et spes, theCharter for Health Care Workers of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Among Health Professionals, the Declaration on Euthanasia, physician articles and statistics, which show that the Czech Republic still has a lot of space for improvement in palliative care.
