Film Zavěste červené lucerny z roku 1991 je založen na literární předloze novely Manželky a konkubíny čínského autora Su Tonga. Výzkumnou otázkou mé práce bude zjistit o jaký typ adaptace se v tomto případě jedná a popsat jakým způsobem byl literární jazyk předlohy převeden do jazyka filmového. K tomuto závěru mi poslouží podrobná analýza filmu na základě teorií Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové. Pro lepší pochopení bude teoretická část práce obsahovat osvětlení těchto teorií a také úvod do teorie adaptací. Další část práce bude obsahovat samotnou analýzu filmu, stručný rozbor literární předlohy a porovnání předlohy a podle ní natočeného snímku. Pro uvedení do kontextu budou v práci obsaženy i informace o autorech obou děl a v neposlední řadě také celkové zasazení do tehdejší situace literární a filmové scény v Čínské lidové republice.The main aim of this bachelor thesis is to conduct categorization of adaptation Raise the Red Lantern, a film by Zhang Yimou and to assess its fidelity. This film is adaptation of novel Of Wives and Concubines by contemporary chinese writer Su Tong. Introductory chapter explains four different theories used for categorization of adaptations which I decided to use. Those theories are namely bys Alicja Helmanová, Michal Horniak, Brian McFarlane and Dudley Andrew. Second part is focused on film analysis based on theories written by David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson. Next chapter includes the main aim of my thesis, categorization of the adaptation based on theories mentioned in the first chapter. Brief introduction to the novel and its author Su Tong is also added into this chapter for the purpose of deeper understanding of the changes made during this proces of adaptation. Those changes are stated in the end of my thesis. Last but not least, thesis also contains information about so called Fifth generation of chinese filmmakers and about director of anlysed film, Zhang Yimou, all for the purpose of better understanding of the cultural situation in which was the film made.
