The EU's Role in the Resolution of Georgia?s Conflicts [rukopis] / Maka Mdivani. -- 2011. -- pg.55. -- Ved. práce Jaroslav Miller. -- Abstract: Analyzing the EU?s peace activities in Georgia during 1990-2008, from its independence prior the Russia-Georgia War, the thesis will address the question of the EU?s role in the resolution of Georgia?s conflicts. Since 1990s the EU has provided financial and technical assistance to Georgia and its breakaway regions and backed peace activities of the two other international organisations ? the OSCE and the UN. The new foreign and security policies developed by Brussels since the end of the Cold War and War on Balkans, had to increase the EU?s capacities to handle conflicts even beyond its borders. Though the peace process failed and Georgia was involved in the war with Russia. The thesis will examine the EU?s contribution to the resolution of Georgia?s conflicts by describing its involvement through its peacekeeping, peacebuilding and peacemaking activities in the region.. -- Abstract: Analyzing the EU?s peace activities in Georgia during 1990-2008, from its independence prior the Russia-Georgia War, the thesis will address the question of the EU?s role in the resolution of Georgia?s conflicts.
