The topic of the bachelor thesis is the physiology of the respiratory system, with a focus on spirometric data in youth involved in swimming sports. In the introductory section, evolutionary aspects of respiration are described, an overview of respiratory physiology is given, followed by a description of the physiological adaptations of the human organism to the aquatic environment and a characterization of spirometric methods. The main part of the thesis - literature search - presents a review of available data on the influence of swimming sports on selected spirometric parameters with a focus on FVC, FEV1 and PEF values. The review supplemented with sample measurements, in adolescent water polo players. Both the sample measurements and the results of the literature search confirmed the positive effect of swimming sports on respiratory function.
