Participantky sdělují vznik konfliktu práce-rodina zejména v důsledku změn v akademickém světě, genderových nevýhod i osobnostních specifik. The dissertation is concerned with socially actual issue of dyadic and professional satisfaction of women occupying academic professions. The main aim of the research is to examine the degree of dyadic satisfaction and its aspects and to explore the roles of the partner, and what impact these roles may have on woman coping with academic profession successfully. Moreover the extent to which women were successful in balancing private and work-related aspects of their lives was explored. The research sample consists of 32 females, aged between 30 and 52, who are occupying academic profession for 3 or more years and have been in a relationship for at least 3 years. The cornerstone of this research is qualitative methodology (semi-structured interview, personal and family anamnesis) which was supplemented by quantitative scales. Research results show that despite the fact that the women perceive their family and personal relationships as important, work-related duties play a far more significant role and have an influence on their personal lives. According to the participants, the work-family conflict is rooted in changes in academia, gender discrimination, and from personal factors as well, which is demonstrated in family life by increased tiredness, a low level of inspiration and even a decreased level of relationship satisfaction. Women who are satisfied in their partnership share the same values, way of thinking and interests with their partner. The negative aspects of partnership satisfaction include a critical inability to accept the career success by the partner, excessive individualism and domination on the side of the woman.
