Diplomová práce se zabývá posouzením efektivity institutu extradice. Úvodní část je věnována obecnému pojmu mezinárodní justiční spolupráce v souvislosti s novým zákonem o mezinárodní justiční spolupráci v trestních věcech, jenž je účinný od 1. 1. 2014, dále se věnuje rozboru samotného pojmu extradice. Těžiště práce spočívá v rozboru platné právní úpravy extradice a v řešení otázky, zda je extradice účinným instrumentem mezinárodní justiční spolupráce, zda lze zastoupit účel extradice jinými formami mezinárodní justiční spolupráce a jaký je přístup zemí k extradičnímu řízení. Součástí práce je posouzení rozdílností procesu extradice v rámci Evropské unie a naopak procesu vydávání mimo členské státy Evropské unie. Práce se také zabývá na extradici s ohledem na spolupráci s mezinárodním trestním soudem. V neposlední řadě je práce zaměřena na aktuální kauzu Kevina Dahlgrena, amerického občana, jenž se dle dostupných důkazů měl dopustit čtyřnásobné vraždy v Brně, a Česká republika požádala USA o jeho vydání.The thesis deals with evaluation of the effectiveness of an institute of the extradition. The first part is focused on the general concept of an international cooperation in a context of the new Act oriented on an international judicial cooperation in criminal matters, which is effective from 1. 1. 2014. Furthermore this diploma thesis analyses substantial research questions which are connected with analysis of a current legislation of the extradition and the analyse whether the extradition is an effective instrument of the international judicial cooperation; whether the purpose of extradition can be substituted by other forms of the international judicial cooperation. Next, diploma thesis compares general attitudes of states to the extradition. Another task in thesis is an assessment extradition differences between member states of the European Union and between non European Union Member States. The thesis also deals on extradition with regard to cooperation with the international criminal court. Finally, the author focused on the current Kevin Dahlgren case, an American citizen, who, according to available evidence, is accused to committee a quadruple murder in Brno, when Czech Republic asked USA for his extradition
