Terminální linie osídlily oblast Velkých Sund a Filipín. Dilophotes náleží k druhům chráněných proti predátorům a většina druhů je aposematicky zbarvených. Zjistila jsem sexuální polymorfismus několika druhů z oblasti Velkých Sund. Samice těchto druhů napodobují vzor Cautires/Calochromus a samci vzor Libnetis. Tropical fauna is extremely species-rich and only partially known. Taxonomically poorly known lineages can be studied using DNA markers. We can delineate biological species, investigate their phylogenetic relationships and infer the evolution of traits using molecular data. Three mitochondrial markers, cox1, nad5 and rrnL were obtained for representatives of the beetle genus Dilophotes Waterhouse, 1879 (Coleoptera: Lycidae). The data matrix included 144 terminals including an outgroup and after filtering for terminals with complete representation of all three markers the resulting matrix included 102 terminals. I identified 39 species using molecular phylogeny and morphological information. The topology was similar when inferred using various alignment methods and optimization criteria for tree building. The results show continental Asia as an ancestral range of Dilophotes where basal lineages are distributed. Terminal lineages dispersed to the Greater Sunda Islands and the Phhilippines. Dilophotes is a member of the species rings of aposematically coloured unpalatable species. Several species express sexually linked polymorphism which developed independently in several lineages. The females resemble the pattern of Cautires/Calochromus and males the pattern of Libnetis. The evolution of these patterns is linked to the differences in the body size and these differences constrained the evolution of the pattern in respective sex. I suppose that the local patterns were adopted by advergence after dispersal to a new range. Further, I found the presence of the unique patterns represented by a single species. The results show a role of evolutionary constrains in the evolution of warning colouration and a possibility of de novo evolution of a new pattern in the multispecies communities of unpalatable aposematically coloured communities of net-winged beetles.
