Práce se zabývá vysvětlením významu japonských sebevražedných jednotek v bitvě o Okinawu. Jejím cílem je zjištění důvodů vzniku těchto jednotek, průběh jejich postupu až k bitvě o Okinawu a následně důkladné prozkoumání působení jednotek kamikaze v této bitvě. Obsahem největší části práce je popsání jednotlivých druhů sebevražedných jednotek a toho, jak tyto jednotky ovlivnily celkový průběh bitvy. Velký důraz je kladen především na letecké útoky, které byly využívány nejvíce a způsobily také nejvíce škod nepřátelům. V práci však nejsou opomenuty ani další typy sebevražedných jednotek, například motorové čluny, miniponorky nebo lidská torpéda.This thesis focuses on understanding the significance of the Japanese suicide units in the battle of Okinawa. The aim of this work is to find the reasons why these units were created, describe the process of how they got to Okinawa and then do a thorough examination of how effective these units were in this battle. The aim of the biggest part of thesis is to describe the different types of units and how these units affected the overall progress. The greatest emphasis is given to air units, which were used most and also caused the most damages to the enemies. However, this work also describes other units such as motor boats, submersibles and human torpedoes.
