Práce ověřuje vliv kurzu meditace na emoční prožívání a variabilitu srdeční frekvence a vztah úrovně pohybové aktivity k emočnímu prožívání a variabilitě srdeční frekvence. Údaje potřebné pro splnění záměru výzkumu jsme získávali prostřednictvím dotazníků SUPOS 7 (měření emočních stavů), EPQ-R (hodnocení osobnostních rysů), Pět aspektů všímavosti (hodnocení úrovně všímavosti), IPAQ (hodnocení úrovně pohybové aktivity) a pomocí přístrojové metody pro vyšetřování autonomního nervového systému DiANS PF8 (analýza variability srdeční frekvence). The thesis examines the impact of a meditation course on emotional experience and heart rate variability (HRV) as well as the relationship between the level of physical activity and emotional experience or heart rate variability. The decision has been made to examine this aim through a quasi-experiment and within a descriptive research. Our research sample was acquired through occasional selection. It consists of full-time university students at the ages between 19 and 29 years. The final number amounted to 60 people, 30 of which attended a meditation course and therefore represented the experimental group. The other half didn't attend such course and thus formed the comparative group. The meditation course lasted a total of 11 weeks, with its classes taking place once a week. The data required to fulfill the aim of the research were obtained by the means of a number of questionnaires, namely SUPOS 7 (measuring emotional state), EPQ-R (assessing personality traits), Five Facets Mindfulness Questionnaire (assessing the level of mindfulness) and IPAQ (assessing the level of physical activity), and using the DiANS PF8 method for the examination of the autonomic nervous system (heart rate variability analysis). The measurements of heart rate variability and the collection of data via questionnaires were carried out both before the beginning of the meditation course and after its completion. The conducted research did not prove any positive impact of a short-term meditation course on emotional experience or heart rate variability. However, the results of both groups were affected by higher levels of stress the participants were experiencing at the moment of the second measuring. In our study, total time devoted to physical activity and the amount of time spent performing physical activity out of personal interest correlated with neither emotional experience nor with HRV parameters. Nonetheless, a significant relation of the time devoted to the physical activity of moderate intensity out of personal interest towards both emotional experience and heart rate variability (for LF, HF and TP components) was detected. Regarding possible further research, we propose extending the number of research participants, conducting the collection of data at a time not burdened with situational stress and adding a group of participants with more frequent meditation classes to the research.
