The aim of the thesis is to elaborate a literature review focused on existing concepts of detectors with the ability to resolve between the number of photons. Analyze the expected pulse height distribution in the detection of coherent states with low average number of photons (5-20). Design of an experimental arrangement for testing the pulse height distribution of detectors and implementation for the available types of detectors. Experimental results will serve for discussion, for further study and to facilitate the understanding of this matter
