Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou křestních jmen a příjmení v 15 raných povídkách a 3 románech Thomase Manna - Buddenbrookovi, Doktor Faustus a Zpověď hochštaplera Felixe Krulla. V teoretické části jsou rozdělena křestní jména podle původu a podle slovotvorby, příjmení podle jejich vzniku, a to na příjmení vytvořená z křestních jmen, podle původu, podle místa bydliště, podle povolání a příjmení, která vznikla z přezdívek. Krátce je zde také charakterizována vědní disciplína literární onomastika a zmíněno dělení literárních jmen na jména mluvící, klasifikující, zvukově-symbolická a ztělesněná. Praktická část zpracovává křestní jména a příjmení v díle Thomase Manna. Jsou zde také prezentovány některé příklady jmen. Na základě výzkumu bylo zjištěno, jaké typy křestních jmen a příjmení se v daných dílech vyskytují nejčastěji. Autorka práce se také pokusila najít souvislost mezi volbou jmen a dějem nebo charakterem dané literární postavy a vyjádřila se k otázce, zda se v počáteční a konečné fázi spisovatelovy tvorby změnily motivy pojmenovávání jeho literárních postav.This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the first names and surnames in 15 early short stories and 3 novels by Thomas Mann- Buddenbrooks, Doctor Faustus, and Confessions of Felix Krull. In the theoretical part are the first names divided according to their origin and word-formation; the surnames according to their origin, the place of living, occupation or the nickname of the character. The scientific discipline of the literary onomastics is in this work also shortly characterised. The practical part concerns itself with the first names and surnames in the work of Thomas Mann. Some of the examples of the names are here also presented. In accordance with the research it was determined what types of first names and surnames are in the analysed works by Mann most frequent. The author of this thesis tried also to find a linkage between the choices of the names ad the plot or the given character. She also expressed the opinions to the question, if in the early and late period of Mann's production changed his motives for the naming of the literary characters.
