Cílem naší práce byla studie zaměřená na analýzu motivu cesty v románech francouzského autora Gao Xingjiana : Hora duše a Bible osamělého člověka. Dále jsme zkoumali vnitřní vývoj hlavní postavy, která byla poznamenána terorem Kulturní revoluce odehrávající se v letech 1966-1976 v Číně. Následkem ní utrpělo psychické zdraví protagonisty, protože byl ponižován, šikanován a žil v neustálém strachu. Záměrem naší diplomové práce bylo přiblížit čtenáři přeměnu jeho duše díky nejen fyzické cestě, ale především té spirituální. Výsledky naší práce potvrzují, že důležitou roli hrála příroda a psaní na cestě k vnitřní svobodě.The aim of our work has been to explore the theme of travel in the fiction of the French painter, writer, dramaturge, literary theorist and director with Chinese origins Gao Xingjian. Two of his novels have been analyzed in detail: The Soul Mountain and the One Man's Bible. We have attempted to study the internal evolution of the soul of the protagonist of two novels which were deeply marked by the horror of the Cultural Revolution. This period, occurring in China from 1966 to 1976 caused him great injury and had a terrible impact on his mental state. Indeed, he was humiliated, was paralyzed and haunted by constant fear and became mistrusting of others. In other words, the memory of the present is meant to penetrate the core of the individual in question and to bring the reader closer to his transformation thanks to journeys which are not only physical but mainly spiritual and internal. The outcome of our study confirms the irreplaceable role of nature and writing which allowed the protagonist to find freedom within himself.
