Cílem práce je zjistit, jestli a nakolik jsou opodstatněné snahy o změnu sexuální orientace. V teoretické části se zabýváme dějinami homosexuality nejen v křesťanském světě a současnými vědeckými poznatky o etiologii a klasifikaci homosexuality. Dále je zpracována problematika sexuální orientace, homosexuality u zvířat, heterosexuální adaptace. Uvádíme rovněž oficiální stanovisko katolické církve k homosexualitě a jeho vazbu na terapii. Teoretická část se dále věnuje historickým způsobům léčby homosexuality a mapování současných snah, jejich teoretického zázemí, nedostatků i výsledků, stejně jako odborných pohledů na jejich vhodnost. Na závěr doplňujeme zkušenostmi členů Ex-ex-gay hnutí, jež podporují výzkumná zjištění negativních dopadů reparativních terapií. Kvalitativní výzkumná část se skládá ze dvou rozhovorů formou polostrukturovaných interview a to s psychiatričkou, která provozuje pastorální terapii homosexuality a s respondentem, jenž v obdobné terapii byl. Oba vnímají homosexualitu jako poruchu vývoje. Pastorální terapeutka se skrze harmonizaci osobnosti snaží docílit i změny sexuální orientace. Homosexuální respondent opustil terapii a žije v spokojeném homosexuálním vztahu. Z rozhovorů vyplynulo, že křesťansky orientovaný odborník nezakládá svou "léčbu" na dostupných vědeckých poznatcích ohledně homosexuality, ale na pohledu církve na homosexualitu, má o homosexualitě předsudky a nijak si nezjišťuje trvalost "účinků" dosažených v terapii. Dále že snaha dostát křesťanské morálce je velkou motivací k terapii, současně opouštění křesťanských ideálů zakládá příznivou půdu pro sebepřijetí a navázání homosexuálního partnerství, které pokud je věrné, může ho i křesťan považovat za vhodnou alternativu homosexuálního způsobu života. Terapii homosexuality rozhodně nelze doporučit.The aim of the thesis is to find out, if and how much is the effort of the change of sexual orientation well founded. In theoretical part we consider the history of homosexuality not only in the Christian´s world and contemporary scientific knowledge about the etiology and homosexuality classification. Further there are worked up the questions about the sexual orientation, animal´s homosexuality and heterosexual adaptation. We also present there the official Catholic Church´s stand-point to the homosexuality and its connection to the therapy. Further the theoretical part attends to the historical methods of homosexuality treatment and the mapping of contemporary effort and its theoretical background - deficits and results, same as expert´s views of their suitability. In the end we supplement the thesis by the experiences of the members of Ex-ex-gay movement, which supports the research findings about negative impacts of the reparative therapy. Qualitative research part consists of two interviews in form of half-structured interview with psychiatrist, who practices the pastoral therapy of homosexuality and with respondent, who was in similar therapy. The both perceive homosexuality as an evolution disorder. The pastoral therapeutic tries to change the sexual orientation through the harmonization of personality. Homosexual respondent leaves the therapy and he lives in a happy homosexual relationship. From the interview follows that Christian orientated expert doesn´t base the treatment on available scientific knowledge about the homosexuality, but it is based on the Church´s view of the homosexuality, he/she has the homosexuality prejudices and he/she doesn´t try to find out the permanency of achieved "effects" of treatment. Any further that the effort to keep the Christian morality is the big motivation for the therapy, simultaneously the leaving Christian´s ideals base the hopeful conditions for self-acceptance and to establish the homosexuality partnership, in case if is it faithful, the Christians can also view it as suitable alternative of homosexual way of living. Therapy of homosexuality is not absolutely possible to recommend.
