Cílem předkládané práce je prezentovat základní principy a metody kognitivního přístupu k narativní literatuře a na vybraných krátkých prózách britského spisovatele Iana McEwana ilustrovat využití tohoto kognitivistického pohledu jak v tradičně hermeneutické, tak v empiricky orientované analýze literárního díla. Po obsahové stránce je text rozdělen do tří základních částí ? první část představuje uvedení do problematiky kognitivních věd a jejich aplikace v literární teorii, druhá část je praktickou ukázkou tradiční literární interpretace rozšířené o klíčové koncepty kognitivní naratologie, poslední část práce prezentuje výsledky empirického výzkumu kognitivních aspektů čtenářské recepce a ilustruje tak možnosti a perspektivy této metodologie při recepci a interpretaci literárního díla.This dissertation aims at presenting basic principles and methods of cognitive approach to narrative literature and illustrates the strengths of this approach through literary analysis of selected short stories by the British author Ian McEwan. Such analysis consists of both the traditional approach accompanied by the cognitive perspective and the empirical research focusing on readers? response analysis. The text is divided into three parts, the first being an introduction to the cognitive methods and concepts and their application in literary theory, the second part represents a practical illustration of the traditional hermeneutic analysis enhanced by key concepts of cognitive narratology, and the last one presents the results of the readers? response empirical research and illustrates the perspectives of this method in analyzing the readers reception and interpretation of literature.
