Negative advertising in the the Czech Republic has undergone several changes in the past few years. There are several issues related to negative advertising, particularly the question of effectiveness of this tool Therefore one of the aims of my thesis is answering the question of how negative advertising influences voters of left-wing or right-wing political parties. Related to this is the hypothesis that the voters´ susceptibility to the influence of a certain kind of negative advertising depends on voters´ left / right orientation. By the kinds of negative advertising are meant the two basic ones which are directed either against the leader or the programme of the party. With certain qualifications, the reasearch proved that the way the negative advertising is conveyed particularly affects the decision-making of thr left-wing voters. ). According to the left-wing voters, the negative advertising against the programme is more effective, while the majority of right-wing voters prefer the attack against the leader. Nevertheless, the results are not convincing enough to confirm this. Despite the restrictions mentioned above, negative advertising remains an effective tool of the pre-election campaign, supposing that the degree of its intensity and orientation is reasonable.
