V další části je celá oblast bývalého SSSR rozdělena do čtyř regionů, první zahrnuje Pobaltí, druhá státy Bělorusko, Ukrajinu a Moldavsko, třetí Zakavkazsko a čtvrtá region Střední Asie. This diploma thesis deals with the Russian minorities in 14 "non-Russian" successor states of the former Soviet Union. The main objective of the thesis is to evaluate the changes that the Russian minorities have undergone since the collapse of the USSR to the present. The authoress focuses primarily on changes in the number of individual minorities, on migration, and on cultural, social and political status of these population groups. First part of the thesis considers historical roots of the problem of Russian minorities and describes the initial situation immediately after the collapse of the USSR. In the following part, the whole area of the former USSR is divided into four regions: Baltic states as the first one, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine as the second, Transcaucasia as the third, and Central Asia as the fourth one. This part then deals with the history of the arrival of Russians into these four regions, analyses changes in ethnic composition of the population of these regions, and evaluates the status of minorities. In evaluating the status of minorities, the authoress focuses mainly on problems of acquiring citizenship, using of Russian language and exercising political rights. In the third part, all the mentioned aspects are compared and summarized for all "non-Russian" successor states.
