Tato práce se zabývá obrazem Žida v anglické literatuře od středověku až po 19. století. Hlavní důraz je kladen na období raného novověku. Je zde ukázáno stereotypní vnímání židovského obyvatelstva anglickou společností, přetrvávání těchto předsudků v anglické literatuře a základní historické souvislosti týkající se působení Židů v Anglii v tomto období.This work deals with the image of the Jew in English literature from the Middle Ages to the 19th century; the main stress is put on early modern period. It shows stereotypical perception of Jewish people by English society, the persistence of the prejudice in English literature and the fundamental historical events related to the Jews in England in this period.
