Tato diplomová práce se zabývá expedicemi na Nizozemskou Novou Guineu na přelomu 19. a 20. století, které byly uskutečněné českým a nizozemskými badateli a vědci. Teoretická část stručně popisuje geografii ostrova a historické události ovlivňující jeho vývoj. Dále popisuje expedice a průzkumy na Nizozemské Nové Guineji na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Hlavní část práce se věnuje dvěma vybraným expedicím se zaměřením na srovnání jejich cílů, výsledků, apod. Výsledky mého výzkumu jsou především založeny na srovnání cestopisů a nizozemských novinových článků popisujících zvolené expedice.This master thesis deals with the expeditions to the Netherlands New Guinea in the period of the turn of the 19th century undertaken by Czech and Dutch explorers and scientists. The theoretical part describes the geography of the island and the historical events which influenced its evolution. This work further describes the expeditions and explorations on the Netherlands New Guinea in the period of the turn of the 19th century. The main part deals with the two selected expeditions with the focus on the comparison of their goals, results, etc. The results of my research are especially based on the comparison of travel books and Dutch newspaper articles describing the selected expeditions.
