This dissertation looks into analysis of the characters in 2 different film adaptations of Jamese M. Caina's novel Postman Always Rings Twice, one from 1946 and the other from 1981, and then it compares them. The main goal of this work is to identify and compare the traits which both male and female characters carry and represent. The metology for the analysis is Richard Dyer's Star's concept. During the analysis, I mentioned both the different historical, social and production context and the relationship of the adaptions to the original novel. The novel is presented by brief introduction of the story and its characters. I also partially use Brian McFarlane's thesis to assist me with the comparison of the adaptions with the original novel
