Cílem této bakalářské práce je připomenout existenci diktatury Rafaela Leónidase Trujilla v Dominikánské republice a poukázat na její odraz v literatuře. Pro popis trujillátu jsme z mnoha děl zabývajících se vývojem a dopadem Trujillova režimu na obyvatstvo Dominikánské republiky vybrali román dominikánsko-amerického autora Junota Díaze Krátký, leč divuplný život Oskara Wajda. Tato práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První je zaměřena na historický vývoj Dominikánské republiky. Ve druhé části jsou představeny tři základní literární žánry (diktátorský román, magický realismus a bildungsroman), jejichž rysy je možno v románu rozpoznat. Každý z těchto žánrů uvádí jedno z témat románu. Tato témata jsou rozebrána ve třetí kapitole, která však nejprve zkoumá kompozici románu, poté charakteristiku postav a v poslední řadě se tato kapitola zabývá jednolivými tématy románu.The aim of this work is to remind readers of the existence of the dictatorship of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo and also to show how the dictatorship reflects in the literature. There are many literary works dealing with the development and impact of Trujillo's regime on the citizens of the Dominican Republic. The novel chosen to discuss this issue is The Brief Wondrous life of Oscar Wao, written by the Dominican-American writer Junot Díaz. This thesis is divided into three sections. The first chapter in this work focuses mainly on the historical development of the Dominican Republic. The second chapter presents the three main literary genres (dictatiorial novel, magical realism and bildungsroman) found in this novel. Each of these genres is revealing one of the topics which are discussed in more detail in the third chapter. However this chapter also includes a detailed analysis of the characteristics of the characters and also a description of each theme found in the novel.
